Procession in the Park 2018

It gives me great pleasure to announce the programme for Procession in the Park 2018.

This year it is with the usual excitement and anticipation as once again the best acts of their kind will perform for your entertainment at Meadow Park, Bathgate on the afternoon of Procession Day.

We welcome back to Bathgate the Imps Motorcycle Display Team who will perform for the third time at Procession in the Park demonstrating their dedication and skill that has made them the world leaders in their field. We also welcome for the first time, the Shark Water Show, a death defying high dive show coming to us all the way from France. In the live music marquee, we have two bands making their first appearance at Procession in the Park and I’m sure they will get the place jumping. You can read more about all our acts over the next few pages.

Procession in the Park 2018 brings you an afternoon of first class entertainment and entry to the show is absolutely free. There is a wide and varied programme so there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

After 30 years of service on the Procession Committee it is with a tinge of sadness that this will be my last year. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all of the committee members, past and present, that I have worked with. Without their support and above all trust Procession in the Park would not be what it is today. I would also like to thank my friends and family, especially my wife Nicola, for all their support, encouragement and understanding over the years.

Finally, I would like to thank all of you who have come out to support Procession in the Park. The Committee do what they do so memories can be created and I hope you have been able to take away many happy memories from Procession in the Park over the years. With your continued support I am sure that Procession in the Park will go from strength to strength in the years ahead.

This is your day, so regardless of the weather please come and join us at the Meadow Park on Procession Day for what promises to be another memorable Procession in the Park.

Have a great time and hopefully some more fond memories can be created at Procession in the Park 2018.

Titan the Robot

2:00pm
and
3:30pm
When Titan last performed for us in 2016, he said, in the immortal words of Schwarzenegger, “I’ll be back” and here he is.

With great anticipation we welcome back the world famous, or should that be infamous, Titan the Robot to Procession in the Park. Titan is literally the biggest entertainer on the planet. The Titan experience is family friendly, funny, fast paced and full of surprises but above all a very interactive show that gets the whole audience involved. Titan’s cheeky character is adored by both adults and children alike.

There is no arena big enough that could keep Titan under control so he will be roaming the park at the times noted.

Titan the Robot is an entertainment concept unlike anything on earth. Titan’s unique blend of comedy, street theatre and music creates a show unrivalled in the world today. This has led to him appearing on many TV shows and working with superstars such as Rihanna, Will Smith, Kylie Minogue and Will.i.am.

Shark Water Show

1:40pm
and
2:45pm
and
4:05pm
The show is performed by five professional divers performing more than 70 different dives from five different heights.
The show explodes into life with the classic dive show, a cascade of somersaults and twists from the 3 metre springboards. This is followed by a series of difficult Olympic style diving and synchronised dives from the 10, 12 and 15 metre platforms ending with a fantastic mass-dive where all five artists dive at the same time into the pool.
The show is then interrupted by a gang of crazy clowns who perform all kinds of funny comic dives from various parts of the tower and even get the public involved in the show.  A joy for kids of all ages.
A series of extreme dives takes us to the finale of the show. The Firedive is, literally, the hot part of the show. A stunt diver in a special suit and two capes soaked in petrol stands on the six metre high platform and sets fire to himself. He burns at 800 degrees celsius for 15 seconds before spectacularly diving into the pool.
The team end the show with an astounding dive from the 25 metre platform. One high diver climbs to the top of the tower and after deep concentration performs a handstand dive with somersaults and twists into the pool which is only 3 metres deep and 7 metres wide.

The IMPS Motorcycle Display Team

2:10pm
and
3:30pm
The Imps are the world’s premier youth motorcycle display team.
From the sound of revving engines to the awe of a billowing fire jump and the suspense of a multiple motorcycle combination ‘cross-over’ routine, The Imps will have you mesmerised by an unmissable display of discipline and skill. Furthermore, you will be stunned to learn that the youngest performer is only five years old!
The Imps Motorcycle Display Team, noted for its impeccable smart red tunics and highly disciplined spectacular show originated in the 1970’s from The Hackney Adventure Holiday Project – a charity founded by Roy Pratt MBE that provided holidays in the country for under privileged young people. Some of the children found a dysfunctional old ‘motorbike’ – one thing led to another and a motorcycle display team, uniquely comprising young people aged five to sixteen, emerged.
For more than forty years The Imps have performed around the world from Singapore to the USA. Regular appearances on prime time television and displays at major events, such as The Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2016, have secured a reputation for excellence.
Extraordinary discipline and incredible teamwork enable The Imps to deliver shows comprising complex ‘cross-overs’ requiring split second timing, breathtaking fire jumps and visually stunning pyramids of red tunics – all served up with a dash of humour and aided by the spell-binding mini Imp mascots.
